Call For Entries – Dhaka International Foto Fest 2019

“A picture is worth a thousand words”. An idea can be conveyed effectively with just a single picture and to share your ideas, your thoughts with the world Dhaka University Photographic Society (DUPS) is coming up with a grand photo festival. So, dear photographers from home and abroad get prepared to express your stories with your best shot! 

Since 1999, Dhaka University Photographic Society (DUPS) is trying hard to bring out the new thoughts and latent talents in photography. For the very first time, Dhaka University Photographic Society (DUPS) is arranging “DHAKA INTERNATIONAL FOTO FEST-2019”. 

For your convenience we strongly recommend you to go through the event details, registration procedure and “TERMS AND CONDITIONS”

——————————–EVENT DETAILS—————————–

Photo Submission Starts: 15th November 2018 (00:00:01 BD Local Time)
Last Date of Submission: 15th December 2018 (23:59:59 BD Local Time)

1.Photographers around the world are eligible to submit their works.

2. Participants must provide National ID, Passport no. or other necessary documents if required.

Section 1: Single Photos
Theme: Open

*Each participant can submit at most 10 photos in the single section. Submitted photographs may be taken by DSLR or mobile. 
* A participant can submit in both Color and monochrome. 

*All kinds of HDR, Digital Photo Composite or Photo Montage/Manipulation are allowed in Single category. In case of digital photo composite or photo montage/manipulation, all used photos must be taken by the Photographers. (Proof of capture might be required if it is necessary)

Section 2: Portfolio (Story-Telling) 

Portfolio (Story-Telling) including (but not restricted to) journalism, personal stories, creative/conceptual will be accepted. Photographers can use any type of photo manipulations to express his/her creativity. And all the photos should be coherent that shares a common theme.

* Each participant can submit at most 3 photo stories/series in this section containing minimum 6 to maximum 8 photographs. 
* A participant can submit in both Color and monochrome.
*All kinds of HDR, Digital Photo Composite or Photo Montage/manipulation are allowed in photo series. In case of digital photo composite or photo montage/manipulation, all used photos must be taken by the photographers. (Proof of capture might be required if it is necessary)

————————–SUBMISSION PROCEDURES———————-

For Single Photos: 

Submit your photographs in a compressed form (.zip file) through email at:

1. Renaming the Photos: 

Each photo must be renamed accordingly as-

Country Name_Institution Name_Participant’s name_Title_Category_Mobile no_Serial no
(Title is not mandatory)

For example:

Bangladesh_DU_Niladri Paul_Untitled_Single_+8801XXXXXXXXX_01
If you are a freelancer and don’t belong to any institution then “Freelancer” can be used instead of Institution Name.

2. Resolution:
For DSLR Submission
Must be in JPEG or JPG format, and must be at least 3000 pixels on the longer side. Minimum resolution is 300dpi.

For Mobile Submission
Must be in JPEG or JPG format, and must be at least 2400 pixels on the longer side. 

3. No watermark or border is allowed. 

4. No entries will be accepted without the .doc file.

The email must contain a .doc file with the required information:

• Participant name
• Country name
• Institution name
• Address
• Contact number
• Email address
• Number of photographs submitted

5.After sending email, you have to confirm your submission by posting on facebook event discussion. Include the following information in your post: Email address, Number of photographs submitted.

For Portfolio (Story-Telling): 

Submit your photographs in a compressed form (.zip file) through email at:

Send us each photo story in .zip format containing-

1. Renaming the .zip files:

Rename the .zip file as 
Country Name_Institution name_Participant’s name_Title_Category_Mobile no_Serial no
For example:

Bangladesh_DU_Niladri Paul_Untitled_Portfolio_+8801XXXXXXXXX_01

2. Renaming the photos:
Rename the photos as Participants name_Mobile no_Serial no (e.g. Niladri Paul_+8801XXXXXXXXX_01)

6. Each Photograph can’t be more than 5 MB

7.After Submission of email, you have to confirm your submission by posting on this event’s Discussions. Include the following information in your post: Email address, Number of photo story/photo series submitted.

———– Terms and Conditions Regarding Photo submission ——

* Previously exhibited photos in any other exhibition are strongly discouraged.

*Photographs that include sculptures, statues, paintings, and other works of art will be accepted as long as they do not constitute copyright infringement or fraud.

*The photograph must be the sole work of the entrant. By entering, the entrant confirms that the photograph does not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity or intellectual property rights of any person or entity, and that no other party has any right, title, and claim in the photograph.

*The photograph must not contain obscene, provocative, defamatory, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content.

*Photographers will be notified about registration process, fees and deadlines after the result is published. If any ‘selected’ photographer fails to complete the registration process within the registration deadline his/her photograph(s) will be disqualified and priority will be given to the waiting list.

*Judges & curator hold the right of altering any selected images. (Like, cropping, conversion to black and white, flipping etc.) 

*DUPS holds the right to examine the authenticity of the photograph/source material in order to confirm compliance with these rules.

*DUPS can use the submitted photographs for promotional activities, but DUPS will not use any photograph for business purpose.

*Photos with watermarks are not eligible for submission.

—————– RIGHT TO MODIFY THE EXHIBITION ————– 

If, for any reason the exhibition is not capable of running as planned or any other causes beyond the control of DUPS that corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this exhibition, DUPS reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual(s) who tamper with the entry process, and/or to cancel, terminate, modify any photographs or suspend the exhibition.
